Lifestyle | Why it's okay to take a break...

If you read my blog regularly then you may have noticed I have been a little MIA recently and I'd just like to say I am so sorry about this. There are a number of reasons behind this so lets begin...

1. Social Life

Although I stick to my select friends rather than go out and make friends with anyone, I am quite the social butterfly. If I stay in all day, I get claustrophobic and withdrawal symptoms. I like having company and I like to have a laugh and catch up with my friends, as sadly these days I don't see them nearly enough. Plus a lot of them have moved away or have wedding/house/travel/job plans, basically we've all grown up and there is no dossing around like at college or university, spending free time drinking tea, getting drunk, watching films, etc. We all have our own lives to deal with now rather than the drama of who fancies who and all that pa-lava.

2. Sometimes you need time to relax

I absolutely love blogging, I really do! It is an escapism from everyday life and gives me something productive to do in my free time. I have my own little corner of the internet that people enjoy reading and that I appreciate so much! However, since I finished some exams I was taking for a Maths GCSE course (I don't have it so thought it would probably be a good idea to get!), I have literally thrown my heart and soul along with my free time in to blogging which is wonderful but sometimes I get so stressed by it because I'm not taking time to do something else like exercise, see friends, read my ever growing pile of books I want to catch up on, catch up on TV. When I get stressed, I take it out on Greg and that's not fair as he is my rock and stands by me and supports me with everything. For that, I am eternally grateful (sometimes I don't know how he puts up with me!).

3. Did someone say run?

Exercise is one of those things I have a love/hate relationship with. I am a very active person but I am also a very lazy person at the best of times. At the weekends, I am generally pretty active that I don't bother making healthy meals or thinking about how far I've walked but during the week I am the complete opposite. I work in an office job so I sit down for a good 8/9 hourse of the day and when I get home from work, I don't particularly want to sit down all evening. My evening's and work lunch breaks are quite often filled with me doing about 30-60 minutes a day of exercise. If I do that a long with making a healthy meal then that is the majority of my evening gone. The simple answer would probably be to bulk make food which quite often I do but there is just somethings you can't get away with freezing and whats more, they don't even taste great!

I hope this didn't come across as me bitching or sounding like I'm whining (I know there has been a lot of negativity in the blogosphere recently!) but as much as I love blogging it isn't my full time job, it is a hobby. If it takes off as a job then that's grand, I wouldn't say no to it but until then it is a hobby that I put a lot of time in to. Therefore, I think I am entitled to a mini break or posting less occasionally.

N.B. This doesn't mean I am planning on leaving the blogging world anytime soon! :)

Have you taken a break from blogging before? How did you find it?
